The Sessions ONE

Hey guys!  As you know, I go into the studio every 6 weeks or so with my band, and we cut 5 or so of my new babies. I've decided to share these with you guys as they come in.  You'll be able to see and purchase what the artist got to hear before the official cut.  I am putting several to choose from, even "Cold Beer Drinker" before Luke Bryan cut it, as well as "When I Get It" before Craig Campbell's version came out.  I have also included the version of "Unlove Me" that Julie Roberts heard before she cut.  Hope you enjoy them.  Please let us know!  Check them out in the Digital album section.  You can buy as individual tracks or as an album!

My song "One Day Closer" was awarded this Friday night at the Inspirational Country Music Awards.  I co-wrote the song with artist Jeff Bates.  Jeff, you did an awesome job!  I am so proud of this and of you!  Let's write many many more together!

Guy Penrod of the Gaither Vocal Band

Many of you know the Gaither Vocal band.  If not, you need to look them up as one of Gospel Music's most important groups.  Guy Penrod, one of the main Gaither's has just released his first Country album and I have just been advised that my song "More Power To Ya" has been released as a single.  So proud of this cut!

Blake Shelton's CMA nomination

It was my first Blake cut and now it is on his CMA album of the year nomination "All About Tonight".  My cut was "Doin That Thing We Do" .  So proud to be a part of this.  Go Blake!

Cuts Cuts Cuts

I have had such a great week.  My cut called "Muckalee Creek Water" on Luke Bryan was released Tuesday on this latest album Tailgates and Tailines".  It charted yesterday on itune sales at 141 for Country Music Sales! 

Also, one the bands that influence my career cut one of my songs this past week.  Diamond Rio cut one of my newest songs called "Walking By Beauty". I am so honored to have a song cut by them.  One of the best highlights of my career thus far.  I will let you know when it's out.

New song on Luke Bryan's upcoming album

One of the greatest treasures in my life is my good friend Luke Bryan.  We have had so many hits together, and I am so thrilled for all of his successes!  He has a new album coming out early August, and our new song "Muckalee Creek Water" will be our next venture together.  Mark your calendars and don't forget to get Luke's newest album.

"For Pete's Sake" lights up Fayetteville

You know I always try to write from the heart.  But no song means as much to me as the song I wrote with my pal Kerry Kurt Phillips.  We wrote a song called "For Pete's Sake" for his dog Pete.  Pete was not just a dog, but a close friend.  I don't remember a write that Kerry and I had that Pete was not in the room for.  That's why it gives me great pleasure to see this song being played by WKML in Fayetteville, NC. 

After hearing the song during one of my performances in August 2010, WKML decided to spin the song.  Long story short, we now have a HIT in Fayetteville.  Thank you to everyone who has called in to make it so.  This is a very important song and I'm so glad to be able to share.

Luke Bryan goes Gold

It has been a long time coming!   Most of you know that Luke Bryan and I started writing together as soon as he came to town.  I have been honored to have had several cuts by Luke.  "Country Man" was ours....we also wrote "Time to Take My Drunk Ass Home" and "Cold Beer Drinker" for his Spring Break EP's....but on his last album Doin' My Thing, we co-wrote the song "Drinking Beer and Wastin' Bullets".  I am thrilled and honored to be a part of Luke's career.  He is not only very talented...he is an awesome friend.

Praise for Jason's writing on Jeff Bates album

Music News Nashville has great things to say about Jeff Bates' new album "One Day Closer." Song to be featured on Mike Huckabee Show

Hey guys, I just wanted to let you know that the band Riverbilly has cut one of my songs and will be featured on the Mike Huckabee show on Fox News February 13th.  They guys just called and will be heading for New York to tape the song on February 12th.  The song featured is "Like Father Like Son".....Let me know if get to see it!
